EQUIPMENT

The PB Sports Club is fully committed to ensuring a top-notch and efficient sporting experience for all its members. As such, we are pleased to inform you that all necessary equipment will be provided for your convenience. From the essential scoreboard and timer to the specialized 10” rubber ball, we have taken into consideration every aspect of the game to ensure a seamless and fair competition. Our goal is to provide a well-equipped and professional environment so that players can focus solely on their performance and enjoyment of the sport.

  1. All players are asked to wear PB Sports Club shirts at any game for the season.
  2. All games will be played with a league provided 10″ rubber kickball.
  3. The umpire has the final say in determining whether any equipment used during a game is allowed or not. Any questionable equipment should be brought to the attention of the umpire for a decision.
  4. It is a requirement for players to wear shirts and shoes/cleats (NO METAL SPIKES) during game time.

PLAYER CONDUCT

Players are not allowed to argue or be cruel to the umpire. If they get ejected, they may serve a suspension. Fighting, swearing, and being rough can also result in ejection. Overall, players need to conduct themselves respectfully on the field.

  1. It is permissible only for the captain to challenge decisions made by the umpire. Any excessive disputing or mistreatment of the umpire may lead to the removal of the player from the game.
  2. Players who are removed from a game may have to serve a one or more game suspension while waiting for review by the league. Physical altercations, such as fighting, wrestling, or pushing, will not be tolerated and may also result in being ejected from the league entirely.
  3. Harsh language towards officials or fellow players, use of profanity, and repeated rough play can also lead to player ejections.
  4. In regards to profanity, it will not be accepted and could potentially result in players being called out or ejected at the discretion of the umpire.
  5. Any player who is ejected from a game and subsequently serves a one or more game suspension may be permitted to return to the game upon approval from the officials and staff, with the condition that the player pays a $50.00 fine. All fines must be paid to the League Representative on the same day as the ejection takes place.

ROSTERS / LINEUPS

  1. It is a requirement for all participants to have reached the age of 18 and have their name listed on the team roster or waiver for that designated night.
  2. It is a requirement for all players on the roster to have signed the waiver in order to participate in the playoffs. Teams are permitted to make additions to their roster until the last game of the season, at which point the roster will be finalized before the start of playoffs.
  3. Once a player has officially signed their team’s roster, they are  ineligible for replacement or removal, except in the case of sustaining an injury.
  4. Players are limited to appearing on a maximum of 2 official rosters per league, unless they have obtained approval from the PB Sports Club office.
  5. During the season, players can be on two rosters, but they must choose one team to play with during playoffs.
  6. A team is comprised of 10 players and the number of male players allowed on the field at a time cannot exceed 6.
  7. A team can play with 6 players from their own roster, as long as they have at least 2 female players. If a team has less than 10 players, they can pick up players from another team, as long as those players are already signed on a different team’s roster for that night. No outside substitutes are permitted to play.
  8. It is prohibited for teams to add players in order to surpass the limit of 10 or to have substitute players.
  9. Prior to each game, the team must submit its kicking lineup to the umpire. Once the lineup cards have been presented to the umpire, they are deemed official and any additional players may only be added at the bottom of the lineup. All substitutions must also be promptly communicated to the umpire as they occur.
  10. It is permissible for teams to have more than ten players, but they must adhere to a 3 to 2 ratio of male and female players on the field unless their opponent grants approval. In the event that there are only two female players present during the game, each woman must kick twice within the first ten kickers.

Example Kicking Lineups for various rosters

  • 6 Players = 4 male players & 2 female players (both female kicking twice)

  • 7 Players = 5 male players and 2 female players (both females kicking twice)

  • 8 Players = 6 male players and 2 female players (both females kicking twice)

  • 9 Players = 6 male players 3 female players (1 female kicking twice)

  • 10 Players = 6 male players 4 female players

  • 11 Players = 7 male players 4 female players (at least one female kicks twice if less than 4 female players are present)

  • 13 Players = 8 male players and 5 female players (at least one female kicks twice if less than 4 female players are present )

  • 15 Players = 9 male players and 6 female players (at least one female kicks twice if less than 4 female players are present)

  1. Every player participating in the field must be included in the batting lineup. The use of “designated fielders” is strictly prohibited.
  2. When there is a need for added players to kick, the lineup must strive to maintain a 3-to-2 ratio as closely as possible. This may require female players to kick twice in the rotation, but male players are NOT allowed to kick twice in the lineup if the team has more females than males.
  3. The team is permitted to have only one player outside of the dugout during the kicking phase. All remaining players, apart from the on-deck kicker, are expected to stay inside the dugout.
  4. Injured/Ejected Players: When a player is injured during a game, the captain must inform the umpire to take them out of the lineup card without any added consequences. This is unless the injured player is female and her removal causes the kicking lineup to fall below the required ratio, resulting in an automatic out for that spot. Once removed from the lineup card, an injured player cannot re-enter the game. Similarly, if a player is ejected from the game, they will be taken out of the lineup card without further penalty. However, if the ejected player is a female and her removal lowers the kicking lineup below the required ratio, it will result in an automatic out for that spot.
  5. Players possess the entitlement to request a roster check of the opposing team during gameplay, between the beginning and end of the game. These requests must be communicated to the coordinator. If an “illegal player” is discovered on the opposing team’s roster or not properly signed, staff may remove the player and/or declare a forfeit. Decisions made by P B sports club staff are conclusive and players are not allowed to request roster checks after the conclusion of the game.

GAMEPLAY

  1. The designated time for the game is considered forfeit time. If the opposing team decides to give their opponents an allowance of time to arrive the game clock will begin, giving the team a duration of 20 minutes to have their complete roster present and prepared for gameplay.
  2. All games have a designated duration of 55 minutes, or 7 innings. If the time limit of 55 minutes is reached, the current inning will be completed unless the home team is leading and due to kick.
  3. It is possible for games to result in a tie during the regular season.
  4. The maximum number of runs permitted in each inning is 10, unless fewer than 10 minutes are remaining in the game. In such cases, there will be no limit on the number of runs that may be scored. However, if a team is leading by more than 20 runs, they will be held to a maximum score of 10 runs per inning.
-After 30 minutes, the game will be deemed finished and the last complete inning played will determine the final score, unless the home team is kicking and currently in the lead. In any circumstance such as weather or darkness, if less than 30 minutes have passed, the game will be restarted at a later date.

OFFENSE

  1. Each kicker begins with a 1-1 count and is granted one courtesy foul. A kicker will be declared out after committing a second foul ball. Four balls result in a walk.
  2. The “strike zone” is defined as a 1-foot range on either side of home plate and 1 foot above it. A kicker is permitted to have only one “strike.” Failure to attempt a second “strike” will result in the kicker being declared out.
  3. Per the regulations, any kicks must be executed solely with the foot and must take place either at or behind home plate. Any kicks made in front of the home plate will result in a foul ball being called.
  4. Bunting is permitted, but any bunted ball resulting in a double kick will be deemed a foul ball. Additionally, any ball that comes to rest on or is retrieved from home plate will be categorized as a fair ball.
  5. There are no specific guidelines for the order in which males or females should kick, apart from adhering to a ratio of 3:2.
  6. In a kicking order, if a male is walked and a female is next, the female can choose to either take a walk or kick. The umpires will enforce this rule if asked, but it is not their responsibility to notify the kicker in every walk situation.
  7. Runners cannot lead off or steal, they must wait until the ball is kicked. If a runner is leading off, they are declared out and the ball is dead. If a runner leaves early the defense must appeal this play.
  8. Players can be deemed “out” in six ways: striking out, getting their fly ball caught, being thrown out at a base, getting tagged, fouling out, or getting hit by a thrown ball while attempting to run.
  9. The absence of an infield fly rule can be attributed to the uncertainty of successfully catching a fly ball in kickball. This is counterbalanced by the implementation of a no “cheese” rule, wherein the umpire has the authority to deem a fielder’s intentional failure to catch a fly ball, particularly for the purpose of making a double play or gaining some other advantageous position, as grounds for calling both runners safe.
  10. The umpire will closely monitor any contact between the base runner and defensive players. Any excessive contact or collision will result in the runner being called “out” and/or ejected from the game, including contact with the catcher.
  11. The act of sliding is permitted in this game. However, this does not include sliding into a base to prevent a double play or deliberately interfering with the defensive player; in this case, the runner, and the kicker could be called out by the monitor.

DEFENSE

  1. Player are allowed to be anywhere without following any formal positions.
  2. Games will take place on a softball field that adheres to regulation measurements. As per rules, the pitcher and fielders are required to remain behind a parallel line extending from the first base line to the third base line, which passes through the pitcher’s mound up to when the ball is kicked.
  3. The catcher must stay behind the designated line (4ft behind the point of home plate) until the ball is kicked, and cannot interfere with the kicker. If they do interfere, the kicker may be awarded first base and the catcher may be ejected from the game.

PITCHER

  1. The ball must be rolled underhand towards home plate and cannot be bounced. Any pitches that bounce more than one foot above the ground will be considered illegal and ruled a “ball”.
  2. Pitches should be rolled at a moderate pace, neither too fast nor too slow, to ensure fairness and prevent advantage for either team. The umpire will enforce this rule by calling a ‘ball’ if necessary.
  3. Pitchers cannot throw the ball more than 3 feet away from the pitcher’s mound during a pitch. This will result in an illegal pitch and a ball will be called.
  4. It is prohibited to engage in debates over an illegal pitch since it is a matter of personal judgment and persistent arguing may lead to the ejection of the player.

OUT

  1. Any foul ball caught while in the air is considered an out. However, if a player drops a foul ball within the boundaries of foul territory, it retains its classification as a foul ball.
  2. It is a violation for players to intentionally hit a runner above the shoulders with a thrown ball, as it will result in an out. Additionally, any runner who is hit above the shoulders will be credited with an extra base and deemed safe. In the event that a runner deliberately uses their head to block the ball, they will be declared out.
  3. When a runner is hit with the ball, it becomes a dead ball and all remaining runners must stop at their designated bases, except for the runner heading towards home plate. In that case, the defense can try to get that runner out, but the other runners must wait until the play is over before they can advance.
  4. Defensive players are allowed to kick the ball to get an opponent out as long as they don’t interfere with any runner. After receiving the ball, they have three options to secure an out: throwing the ball at the runner, tagging them with the ball, or stepping on a base.
  5. In order to obtain an out, the first baseman is required to have one foot on first base (not the safety bag). If the first baseman does not make contact with first base before the runner, the runner will be deemed safe.
  6. When a female player kicks in a game, the outfielders must stay behind a designated line on the field. The umpire can decide if outfielders are too close to the infield. Only 6 players are allowed in the infield at a time. After the ball is kicked, outfielders can cross the line. However, if an outfielder crosses the line before contact was made, the kicker may be granted first base.
  7. Hypothetical boundary applies to instances of overthrown and caught fly balls that are deemed fouls: including thrown over or beyond the fence or hypothetical boundary line when there is no fence. Should the ball be overthrown and collide with the fence along either the first or third base lines, the aforementioned scenarios are not considered out of play and the runner may proceed, but this action is done at their own risk.

FORFEITS

  1. In the event that a team fails to participate in a scheduled game, their opponent shall be granted a victory by forfeit with a score of 10-0.
  2. In case of prior knowledge of your team’s game forfeiture, it is recommended to notify our office beforehand so that we may inform your competitor.
  3. In the case that a team chooses to forfeit a match at any point during the season, the subsequent regulations will be enforced: first offense will result in a loss of the match and a warning issued; second offense will result in a loss of the match and grant staff the authority to remove the team from playoffs; and third offense will result in a loss of the match and give consideration for removal from the league.

PLAYOFFS

  1. All qualified teams are permitted to participate in the playoffs.
  2. It is imperative to note that only those players who have submitted a signed waiver are permitted to participate in the playoffs. Furthermore, teams have the flexibility to make additions to their roster at any point before the final game of the season.
  3. If it is determined by PB Sports Club staff that a player is not currently listed on the roster or has not been registered on the roster prior to playoffs, said player will be disqualified and the team may face penalties such as forfeiting the game.
  4. The team captains are accountable for ensuring that every player on their lineup is eligible to participate in each game.
  5. Post-season games are part of a tournament where one loss means elimination from further competition.
  6. In the playoffs, a mercy rule is implemented in games where if a team scores 30 runs after completing five innings, the game will end early.
  7. Depending on restrictions regarding schedule and available facilities, it may be necessary for certain teams to participate in multiple playoff games in a single day.
  8. In the event of a tie after 7 complete innings in a playoff game, the Texas Tiebreaker rule will be implemented. Under this rule, both teams will begin the subsequent inning with a runner on second base, specifically the player who made the last out in the previous inning. This process will continue until there is a determined winner.
  9. The ranking of teams is determined by their (1) winning percentage, (2) head-to-head record, (3) run differential, and (4) the result of a coin flip.
